The scheme also reflects the Delhi government’s continued focus on education reforms, infrastructure development, teacher training and student welfare.

The Delhi government has launched an ambitious education support initiative under the Vidya Shakti Mission to provide free coaching for competitive examinations to 2,200 meritorious students across the capital. The scheme covers key national level entrance and professional exams including JEE, NEET, CLAT, CA and CUET. With a dedicated budget allocation of Rs 21 crore, the programme aims to bridge the gap between talent and access to quality coaching for students from economically weaker sections.

Under the new initiative, selected students will receive professional coaching from reputed and established coaching institutes that have partnered with the government for the implementation of the scheme. These institutes will offer structured classroom training, study material, test series and academic mentoring to ensure that students are well prepared for highly competitive examinations.

A major highlight of the Vidya Shakti Mission is its focus on inclusivity and gender equality. A significant proportion of the total seats has been reserved for girl students to encourage their participation in professional education and competitive careers. The government has stated that the scheme is designed not only to support academic excellence but also to empower young women and ensure equal opportunities in higher education and professional fields.

In addition to academic training, the mission places strong emphasis on emotional well being and mental health. The programme aims to create emotionally safe and supportive learning environments within schools and coaching centres. Special sessions on stress management, career guidance, and student counselling will be integrated into the coaching programme to help students cope with the pressure associated with competitive exams.

The selection of students will be based on merit and eligibility criteria issued by the education department. Students studying in government schools in Delhi and those belonging to economically weaker sections will be given priority. The objective is to ensure that financial limitations do not become a barrier for talented students aspiring to enter prestigious institutions such as IITs, AIIMS, National Law Universities, and central universities.

Officials said that the Vidya Shakti Mission aligns with the broader vision of strengthening public education in Delhi and ensuring that students are future ready. By providing access to quality coaching, the government hopes to improve representation of government school students in top professional institutions and national entrance examinations.

The scheme also reflects the Delhi government’s continued focus on education reforms, infrastructure development, teacher training and student welfare. Over the past few years, Delhi has invested heavily in modern school facilities, digital learning tools, and skill development initiatives. The Vidya Shakti Mission is being positioned as a key pillar in this long term education strategy.

Experts have welcomed the initiative, stating that free access to high quality coaching can significantly improve the chances of students from underprivileged backgrounds. Competitive exam coaching often involves high costs, which limits access for many deserving candidates. This programme is expected to level the playing field and nurture scientific, legal, medical and professional talent at the grassroots level.

The Delhi government has indicated that regular monitoring and performance evaluation will be carried out to assess the effectiveness of the scheme. Student progress, coaching quality and result outcomes will be closely tracked. Based on the success of the programme, the government may consider expanding the scope and capacity of the Vidya Shakti Mission in the coming years.

By providing access to quality coaching, the government hopes to improve representation of government school students in top professional institutions and national entrance examinations.
