Kannappan, has recently issued a directive to ensure North Indian students studying in government schools in Tamil Nadu are provided with opportunities to learn Tamil.

The Director of School Education, S. Kannappan, has recently issued a directive to ensure North Indian students studying in government schools in Tamil Nadu are provided with opportunities to learn Tamil. In a circular sent to all district education officers, he emphasized the importance of making Tamil language education accessible to students from North India. This initiative aims to bridge the cultural and linguistic gap between local Tamil-speaking students and those coming from various northern states.

The circular stresses that several North Indian students have enrolled in government schools and successfully learned Tamil, excelling in both their academic and personal development. Encouraged by this success, the directive calls for a more focused approach to integrating Tamil language learning into the curriculum for these students.

Kannappan has requested that district education officers take steps to actively promote the enrollment of North Indian children in government schools and facilitate their access to Tamil language education. The officers are also urged to ensure that Tamil is taught effectively, keeping in mind the cultural diversity and language background of the students.

Additionally, the circular outlines a plan to reward students who perform well in Tamil language subjects, especially those who secure high marks in state exams. The rewards include scholarships, financial assistance, and other incentives designed to encourage students to take their studies seriously and further enhance their academic achievements.

Moreover, the directive also advises school headmasters and teachers to provide necessary guidance and support to help North Indian students succeed in Tamil language learning. This initiative aims to not only promote language learning but also to foster a sense of inclusion and integration among students from different linguistic backgrounds.

By making Tamil education accessible to students from various parts of India, the Tamil Nadu government seeks to create a more cohesive educational environment that celebrates linguistic diversity while maintaining the state’s rich cultural heritage. This move will likely help ensure that students from different regions feel welcomed and valued, thus contributing to their overall academic success and well-being.

Kannappan has requested that district education officers take steps to actively promote the enrollment of North Indian children in government schools and facilitate their access to Tamil language education.
