In a recent order, the Directorate of School Education has instructed all employees, including teachers and staff working in government schools under the department, to apply for leaves and other office-related benefits exclusively through the Kalanjiyam app. The order, which was sent to all District Primary Education Officers, emphasizes that the app, previously recommended for use in applying for leaves, pension benefits, and other forms of requests, has not been fully utilized.
According to reports from the Treasury Department, the Kalanjiyam app is not being used to its full potential, despite earlier instructions. As a result, the Directorate has now made it mandatory for all employees, teachers, and workers to download and use the app for various purposes such as applying for leave, requesting pension benefits, submitting contributions to pension schemes, applying for advances, and obtaining salary certificates.
This move is aimed at ensuring the app's full utilization, thus streamlining the process and making it more efficient. The Directorate has also directed District Education Officers to take necessary actions to ensure that all staff members use the app regularly. Additionally, from January onwards, employees will be required to submit their pension proposals online only.
This decision comes as part of the government's ongoing efforts to digitize administrative processes and increase transparency in public service operations. The Directorate has urged all district-level officials to enforce the usage of the app and ensure that all employees are compliant with the new guidelines.
