The Government of Haryana has announced that it will soon introduce CM Shri Schools in the state, modeled on the lines of the PM SHRI Schools scheme launched by the central government. The announcement was made by Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, who said that the new schools would follow the Central Board of Secondary Education pattern and aim to strengthen the quality of school education.

The proposed CM Shri Schools are expected to function as model institutions that incorporate the core principles of the National Education Policy 2020. The objective is to improve academic standards, upgrade infrastructure and create a modern learning environment for students across the state. The state government plans to select certain schools that will be developed with enhanced facilities and improved teaching methodologies.

The PM SHRI Schools scheme was launched in September 2022 as a centrally sponsored initiative. Its primary aim is to transform selected schools into exemplar institutions that demonstrate the full implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. The scheme focuses on holistic and experiential learning, digital integration, improved infrastructure and skill based education. By adopting similar principles, Haryana’s CM Shri Schools are expected to contribute to raising educational standards at the state level.

According to the Education Minister, the CM Shri Schools will adhere to the CBSE curriculum framework, ensuring uniform academic standards and broader recognition. The move is likely to benefit students preparing for national level competitive examinations and higher education opportunities.

In addition to infrastructure and curriculum reforms, the state government has indicated that provisions under the Right to Education Act will continue to be reinforced. This means that eligible students from economically weaker sections will continue to receive access to quality education in accordance with existing norms. The reinforcement of the RTE quota is aimed at promoting inclusive education and equal opportunities.

Education experts view the initiative as part of a broader effort by states to align their educational frameworks with national reforms introduced under the National Education Policy 2020. The emphasis on model schools is intended to create benchmarks that other institutions can follow. Improved classrooms, laboratories, digital tools and teacher training are among the components expected to be strengthened.

The introduction of CM Shri Schools may also encourage greater accountability and performance tracking within the school system. By establishing measurable standards, the state government aims to enhance learning outcomes and student development.

Further details regarding the number of schools to be upgraded, the timeline for implementation and funding allocation are expected to be released by the state authorities in due course. The announcement reflects Haryana’s intent to modernize its education system and align it with national objectives while ensuring accessibility and equity.
