The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has officially launched the website for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026. The site, accessible at jam2026.iitb.ac.in, will serve as the primary source of information and updates for aspirants seeking admission to postgraduate science programs in leading Indian institutes.

JAM is a national-level entrance examination conducted annually for candidates who wish to pursue MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, and other postgraduate programs at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions. The test evaluates candidates’ understanding of undergraduate-level science subjects and is known for its rigorous standards.

With the website now live, candidates can access comprehensive details about JAM 2026. This includes eligibility criteria, syllabus for each subject paper, examination schedule, application process, list of participating institutes, and previous year question papers. The portal will also provide regular updates regarding admit card release, examination centers, result announcements, and counselling procedures.

IIT Bombay is the organizing institute for JAM 2026, and this year’s examination is expected to attract a large number of applicants from across India. The institute has emphasized transparency and clarity in the application process. The official website is user-friendly and includes a detailed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section to assist candidates with their queries.

The JAM 2026 exam is expected to be held in February 2026, and the application window will open in September 2025. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for the exact dates and any announcements regarding changes in the exam pattern or important guidelines. The exam will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) across multiple centers in India.

To apply, candidates will need to create an account on the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS), which will be available via the official website. After registration, applicants can fill out the form, upload required documents, and pay the application fee online. The website also offers sample mock tests to help students familiarize themselves with the online exam interface.

JAM scores are used for admissions not only to IITs but also for more than 2,000 seats across NITs and other institutes through the Centralised Counselling for MSc admissions (CCMN). As such, the exam holds great importance for students aiming to build a career in scientific research and higher education.

Education experts recommend that candidates start their preparation early and focus on building a strong foundation in their chosen subjects. JAM 2026 is expected to follow a similar format as previous years, but candidates should keep an eye on the official website for any revisions.

The launch of the JAM 2026 website by IIT Bombay marks the beginning of another academic cycle, offering students a clear pathway to India’s premier institutions in science and technology.
