Kerala Introduces ‘Career Prayanam’ Digital Career Guide to Empower Students with Future-Ready Career Choices

The Government of Kerala has unveiled a new digital initiative titled ‘Career Prayanam’, aimed at helping students make informed decisions about their education and career paths. The project, launched under the Department of General Education in collaboration with the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), seeks to transform the way students access career guidance and planning resources across the state.

The ‘Career Prayanam’ platform serves as a comprehensive digital guide that provides detailed insights into academic streams, professional courses, vocational training, and job opportunities in various sectors. It is designed to support students from classes 9 to 12, as well as those pursuing higher education, by offering relevant, updated, and structured career information in one place.

Key Features of ‘Career Prayanam’:

  • Digital Career Library: A vast repository of information on educational courses, institutions, scholarships, and job opportunities.
  • AI-Based Recommendations: Personalized career suggestions based on students’ academic interests, skills, and aptitude assessments.
  • Interactive Tools: Quizzes, aptitude tests, and self-assessment modules to help students understand their strengths and preferences.
  • Guidance Resources: Videos, webinars, and expert talks from industry professionals and educators.
  • Multi-Language Support: Available in both Malayalam and English for better accessibility across Kerala’s student population.

During the launch, the Education Minister of Kerala highlighted that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between students and modern career guidance tools, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. The digital approach is intended to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, receives access to quality career planning support.

The state government has also planned to integrate the ‘Career Prayanam’ platform with the Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK) and KITE Victers systems, ensuring that guidance reaches every school through digital learning platforms already in use.

Empowering Students for the Future:

With emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Green Technology, and Digital Media becoming mainstream, the Kerala government believes it is essential for students to receive updated information on evolving career opportunities. The ‘Career Prayanam’ initiative seeks to encourage students to explore new domains beyond traditional career paths such as medicine and engineering.

The platform also offers insights into skill-based training programs aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on employability and entrepreneurship. Students can find information on internships, scholarships, and mentorship opportunities to help them prepare for future job markets.

Implementation and Future Plans:

The project will be rolled out in phases, with the first phase covering government and aided schools across Kerala. The Education Department also plans to conduct workshops and awareness campaigns for teachers, parents, and career counselors to ensure effective use of the platform.

Authorities expect that ‘Career Prayanam’ will not only enhance the career planning ecosystem in Kerala but also serve as a model for other states in leveraging technology for student empowerment.

How to Access the Platform:

Students can log in to careerprayanam.kerala.gov.in using their school credentials. The website provides access to detailed career guides, aptitude tests, and video tutorials on various professional fields.

Conclusion:

With the launch of ‘Career Prayanam’, Kerala has taken a major step toward ensuring equitable and technology-driven career guidance for all students. The initiative aligns with the state’s broader vision of integrating digital learning and innovation into education, preparing the next generation to thrive in an evolving global workforce.
