The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially published its detailed examination calendar for the academic session 2025-26. The calendar includes key examination dates for multiple medical entrance and qualifying exams including FMGE, NEET SS, DNB, and FET. The schedule aims to provide clarity and ample preparation time for aspirants across the country.
According to the notification released on the official website of NBEMS, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) will be conducted in January 2026. This exam is crucial for Indian nationals with medical degrees from foreign universities seeking eligibility to practice medicine in India.
The NEET Super Specialty (NEET SS) 2025 exam is scheduled for November. NEET SS is a qualifying examination for admission to DM and MCh courses in various super-specialty disciplines. It is regarded as one of the most competitive medical entrance tests in the country.
Apart from FMGE and NEET SS, the exam calendar includes dates for several other prominent NBEMS examinations:
- DNB Post MBBS and Post Diploma CET: Tentatively scheduled for December 2025
- FET (Fellowship Entrance Test): Scheduled for March 2026
- DNB Final Practical Exams: Set to take place over different phases between February and April 2026
The NBEMS has also mentioned that the exam calendar is tentative and subject to change depending on administrative and operational considerations. Candidates are strongly advised to regularly visit the NBEMS official website for any updates or changes to the examination dates.
Candidates preparing for these exams are encouraged to take note of the timelines and begin their preparations accordingly. Since these exams are highly competitive and essential for career advancement in the medical field, early planning can significantly improve performance.
The FMGE, in particular, serves a vital purpose for thousands of Indian medical graduates returning from international institutions. It assesses whether these graduates possess the minimum standard required to practice medicine in India. Similarly, NEET SS enables qualified postgraduates to enter super-specialty training programs, shaping the next generation of highly specialized doctors in the country.
NBEMS conducts all examinations in a transparent and standardized manner, and this early release of the exam calendar is a step toward offering greater predictability and fairness in the academic calendar.
The official exam schedule has been made available in PDF format on the NBEMS portal. Students, coaching centers, and academic institutions can download and circulate it among aspirants for better planning.
For further details regarding eligibility criteria, application dates, admit card issuance, and syllabus, candidates must refer to individual exam notifications as and when they are released by NBEMS.
This move has been welcomed by the medical education community as it provides much-needed structure and enables efficient academic planning for the coming year.
