New Delhi, June 4:
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued a new notification allowing candidates who cleared the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) in 2025 but missed the initial certificate distribution process to recollect their pass certificates. This decision comes as a relief to several students who could not attend the designated certificate distribution sessions due to unavoidable circumstances.
The FMGE is a mandatory examination for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have obtained their primary medical qualification from institutions outside India and wish to practice medicine within the country. A pass certificate issued by NBEMS is a crucial document enabling them to apply for registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Councils.
Recollection Window and Guidelines
According to the official notice, NBEMS has opened a new window exclusively for absentee candidates to collect their pass certificates. Candidates are required to register their details through the NBEMS website and schedule an appointment for in-person collection. The board has strictly mentioned that no third-party authorisation will be entertained, and the candidate must be physically present with original documents for verification.
The collection of the pass certificate will take place at the NBEMS office in New Delhi during specific dates, which will be allocated based on the appointment slots. All necessary precautions and protocols will be followed to ensure smooth and secure processing.
Documents Required for Collection
Candidates must bring the following documents at the time of collection:
- FMGE 2025 Admit Card (with photograph)
- Government-issued Photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, or Driving Licence)
- MBBS Degree or Equivalent Qualification Certificate
- Proof of result (printout of scorecard)
- Original provisional registration or eligibility certificate issued by the Medical Council
It is advised to cross-check the complete list of documents from the NBEMS website to avoid any delays or rejections at the time of collection.
Why This Provision Matters
The pass certificate acts as legal proof of having qualified the FMGE, which is a prerequisite for registration with Indian medical regulatory bodies. Without this certificate, candidates cannot begin their internship or practice medicine in India. Recognizing the practical challenges faced by some candidates due to travel restrictions, health emergencies, or other personal difficulties, NBEMS has offered this one-time opportunity to facilitate their career progression.
NBEMS Advises Timely Action
NBEMS has requested all eligible absentee candidates to act promptly and utilise this window without delay. No further extensions will be entertained, and failure to collect certificates within the given timeframe may result in prolonged delays in their medical career advancement.
