In recent admission cycles, the agency has observed that many applications face rejection or correction requirements due to mismatched details in official documents.

The National Testing Agency has issued an important advisory for students preparing to appear for NEET UG 2026, directing all aspirants to update crucial identification and certificate details before the official registration window opens. According to the notice released by the agency, candidates must carefully review their Aadhaar UDID and category certificate information to ensure that all records are accurate and up to date.

NEET UG is the primary entrance examination for admission to MBBS BDS and other undergraduate medical programs across India. Every year, a large number of students apply for the test through the NTA online portal. In recent admission cycles, the agency has observed that many applications face rejection or correction requirements due to mismatched details in official documents. To address this issue, the NTA has now instructed students to complete the necessary updates well in advance.

As part of the advisory, candidates have been told to check whether the name date of birth gender and mobile number linked with their Aadhaar card match exactly with their school records. Any discrepancy must be corrected through the Unique Identification Authority of India portal before NEET registration. The agency explained that Aadhaar authentication will be a key step in verifying applicant identity, and outdated or incorrect Aadhaar information may create technical problems during form submission.

Students with disabilities who plan to apply under the PwD quota must also update their UDID details. The UDID card issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities serves as official proof for availing reservation and exam related facilities such as extra time or scribe support. The NTA stated that only valid and updated UDID cards will be accepted while claiming benefits under the disability category.

Similarly, aspirants belonging to SC ST OBC and EWS categories have been advised to ensure that their reservation certificates are renewed or updated as per current government norms. Since NEET admissions involve strict implementation of reservation policies, accurate category information is necessary for preparing merit lists and allotting seats through centralized counseling. The NTA has made it clear that incorrect category claims may lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage.

The agency further emphasized that the entire NEET UG 2026 application process will be conducted online, and document verification will rely heavily on digital databases. Updating Aadhaar UDID and category details beforehand will help students complete the registration quickly once the portal becomes active. The NTA urged candidates not to wait for the last few days of registration to make corrections, as this often results in server congestion and avoidable stress.

Education experts believe that the NTA advisory is a student friendly step aimed at reducing common application errors. By ensuring proper documentation before registration, aspirants can focus better on exam preparation instead of struggling with technical corrections. Coaching institutes and schools have also been asked to spread awareness among students regarding the update requirement.

The NTA is expected to open the NEET UG 2026 registration portal in the coming months along with detailed information about exam dates syllabus and application fees. Until then, aspirants have been encouraged to use the available time to verify their records and complete all mandatory updates. The advisory highlights the importance of preparedness and accurate documentation in high stake entrance examinations like NEET.
