The closure applies to all government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centers, and will remain in effect until January 18, 2025.

In a significant announcement, the District Magistrate of Patna, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, has extended the winter break for all students in classes up to 8 in the district, citing health concerns due to extreme cold weather. The closure applies to all government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centers, and will remain in effect until January 18, 2025.

The announcement, made on the District Magistrate's official X account (formerly Twitter), emphasized the safety of children in the ongoing cold wave. The official statement read:
"District Magistrate Patna has banned educational activities up to class 8 in schools, Anganwadi centres, and pre-schools till January 18, in view of the safety of children’s health in extreme cold. Instructions have been given to keep the teaching time in classes above 9 between 9 AM to 3:30 PM only."

This directive came into effect on January 16, 2025, following an earlier closure that began on January 5, 2025. Parents and students are advised to remain in touch with school authorities for further updates.

In related news, the Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has instructed schools to conduct hybrid classes for students of Classes 9 and 11 due to a sharp decline in the city’s air quality. This decision aligns with stage four restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to protect students’ health.

Hybrid classes will allow students to attend lessons both online and offline, providing flexibility amid the current air quality crisis. The DoE's directive aims to mitigate health risks while ensuring continuity in education.
