The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced advance salary disbursement for its employees along with a three day holiday in view of the upcoming Holi festival.

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced advance salary disbursement for its employees along with a three day holiday in view of the upcoming Holi festival. The decision was confirmed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who stated that the measure is intended to provide financial relief and facilitate smooth celebrations for government staff and their families.

According to the official announcement, the three day holiday will be observed from March 2 to March 4. During this period, all state government offices will remain closed. The order applies to employees across various departments, including government school teachers and administrative personnel.

To ensure that salary payments are processed without delay, February 28 will remain a regular working day. Officials clarified that maintaining normal operations on this date will help complete the required financial procedures and guarantee timely credit of salaries to employees’ bank accounts before the holiday period begins.

The directive covers all categories of state government employees. This includes permanent staff, contractual employees, outsourced workers and sanitation workers. By extending the benefit to different employment categories, the government has aimed to ensure inclusive implementation of the decision.

Government sources indicated that early salary disbursement ahead of major festivals is part of an effort to ease financial pressures on employees. Festivals often involve additional household expenses, and advance payment can provide better financial planning for families.

In addition to financial relief, the three day break is expected to allow employees sufficient time to observe Holi with family members. Holi is widely celebrated across northern India, including in Uttar Pradesh, and typically involves travel, social gatherings and cultural events. The extended holiday period may also reduce administrative disruptions by aligning official closures with peak festival days.

Education department officials confirmed that government schools will also observe the announced holiday schedule. Academic activities are expected to resume after the break in accordance with the existing academic calendar. Authorities have stated that the decision was taken with prior planning to avoid disruption to examinations or scheduled academic programs.

The announcement has been circulated to all district administrations and departmental heads to ensure proper compliance. Instructions have also been issued to treasury departments to complete necessary procedures for advance salary release within the stipulated timeframe.

Administrative observers note that such measures are often welcomed by government employees, particularly during major cultural festivals. By keeping February 28 as a working day, the government has sought to balance employee welfare with administrative efficiency.

The advance salary release and extended holiday are part of the state government’s broader efforts to maintain employee satisfaction while ensuring uninterrupted governance.
