The West Bengal Madhyamik (secondary) examinations for 2026 have officially begun on February 2, and the Kolkata Police have launched a helpline to support students during the crucial exam period. The initiative aims to ensure that students face no hindrances in reaching their examination centres and that timely assistance is available in case of emergencies.
According to Kolkata Police, the dedicated helpline number, 9432610039, has been activated for students who may encounter issues such as forgetting their admit cards or arriving late to exam centres. Officers on duty will provide prompt help, including guiding students or assisting them in reaching the centres safely.
In addition to the helpline, the Kolkata Police will deploy ambulances on key roads across the city. This measure is intended to quickly transport any student who falls ill during the examination to the nearest hospital, ensuring their health and safety remain a priority.
The West Bengal state government has also taken steps to enhance transportation facilities during the exam period. Twenty additional buses have been scheduled to run on 15 major routes in and around Kolkata, offering students and parents reliable commuting options to reach examination centres on time. These arrangements are expected to reduce stress for students and their families and ensure smooth travel across the city.
This year, the Madhyamik examination schedule is spread across eight days, with exams planned on February 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 12. Authorities are emphasizing punctuality, and the combined efforts of the Kolkata Police and the state transport department aim to support students in adhering to the schedule without any inconvenience.
Parents and students are advised to plan their travel in advance, leave home on time, and utilize the police helpline if any difficulties arise. Police officials have stated that these measures are intended to ensure that every student can reach their examination centre safely and without delay.
The initiative highlights the focus of both law enforcement and the state government on student welfare during critical academic periods. By combining emergency support with improved public transportation, Kolkata aims to set an example of coordinated efforts to facilitate education.
With exams underway, students are urged to concentrate on their studies while being assured of timely help in case of emergencies. The Kolkata Police helpline and additional buses serve as precautionary measures, reinforcing a safe and well-organized environment for the Madhyamik examinations 2026.
