Jack Black takes on the role of Satan in the holiday comedy-drama Dear Santa. Paramount+ has released the first trailer, where Black’s character appears before a young boy named Liam, granting him three wishes. However, there's a catch: once the wishes are made, Satan claims Liam's soul.
The film follows Liam, a boy who still believes in Santa, trying to prove his existence to his friends by writing a letter to Father Christmas. A spelling error, however, results in Satan being summoned instead.
Directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, the film marks their reunion after their iconic Dumb and Dumber (1994). The brothers are known for their work on Green Book and Ricky Stanicky, while the script is penned by Ricky Blitt and Peter Farrelly. This marks the first collaboration between Jack Black and the Farrelly brothers since Shallow Hal (2001).
Apart from Black, the cast includes Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, PJ Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech, and Austin Post.
Dear Santa will premiere on Paramount+ and Digital on November 25, 2024, bringing a fresh comedic twist to the holiday season.
