Evan Mock and Chloe East are the latest additions to the cast of Headhunters, joining Kevin Costner and Daniel Zovatto in the upcoming thriller. The film, directed by renowned cinematographer Steven Holleran in his feature debut, blends high-energy surf culture with suspenseful horror elements. Production is set to begin in January 2025.
The plot follows Costner as Lazer, a disillusioned American ex-pat with a mysterious past, living in Bali. Lazer assembles a group of surfers, led by Bima (played by Zovatto), to find the perfect wave on a remote island. However, they soon discover the island is protected by a tribe of headhunters, forcing the group to fight for survival.
Costner, who also produces through his company Territory Pictures, teams up with Scott Steindorff of Stone Village Films to bring the story to life. Additional producers include Howard Kaplan, Dylan Russell, Lindsay Davis, and Stacey Woods, with Eric Hays serving as the physical producer. The creative team features cinematographer Ericson Core, production designer Derek Hill, and costume designer Lisa Lovaas.
Mock, known for his role in Gossip Girl and his deep ties to surf and skate culture, brings authenticity to his role in the film. His previous acting projects include Fantasmas and Marked Men. East, who garnered praise for her performance in Heretic, has also appeared in The Fabelmans, Generation, and Kevin (Probably) Saves the World.
