After an extended delay caused by the writers’ and actors’ strikes, Wednesday Season 2 has officially wrapped filming. Production for the highly anticipated season began in Ireland in late May 2024. The new season will feature a total of eight episodes and is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2025. Tim Burton, who directed and executive produced the first season, will continue in those roles for Season 2, along with Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson as additional directors.
Jenna Ortega is set to reprise her iconic role as Wednesday Addams, with the rest of the core cast returning, including Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie Santiago. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer will also return, while Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane are expected to appear as guest stars.
Notably, Percy Hynes White, who portrayed Xavier Thorpe in Season 1, will not be returning for the second season. Instead, new cast members Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor will join the show as series regulars. Additionally, Lady Gaga and Thandiwe Newton will make guest appearances, alongside other notable stars such as Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
The series, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, is inspired by the famous Addams Family character Wednesday Addams. The first season, which premiered in November 2022, concluded with Wednesday solving a series of brutal murders while preventing the destruction of Nevermore Academy. While plot details for Season 2 remain under wraps, fans are eagerly awaiting more information as the premiere date approaches.
