Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first look of Jack Black in the upcoming holiday comedy Dear Santa, where the actor known for his comedic roles takes on a more sinister part as Satan. The movie follows a young boy who, still believing in Santa Claus, writes a letter to prove his existence to his friends. However, a spelling error leads to the accidental summoning of Satan, played by Black.
In the teaser, Jack Black is dressed in a Santa costume, complete with horns, and delivers a menacing line, "What? You were expecting someone else?" followed by "Ho, ho, freakin' ho." The full trailer is expected to drop soon, but this brief glimpse already hints at a dark comedic twist.
Dear Santa is directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, marking their reunion after years apart. The Farrelly brothers, famed for Dumb and Dumber (1994), have also worked on films like Green Book and Ricky Stanicky. Alongside Black, the film stars Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, and several others.
Set to release on Paramount+ and Digital on November 25, 2024, Dear Santa promises to bring a unique twist to the holiday comedy genre with its dark humor and unexpected storyline.
