The trailer for Bong Joon-ho's upcoming film Mickey 17, featuring Robert Pattinson in the lead role, was unveiled on Tuesday. The film, inspired by Edward Ashton's novel Mickey 7, introduces a unique premise where Mickey Barnes (Pattinson) takes on an unusual job that involves dying multiple times. As scientists experiment with different versions of him, chaos arises when more than one version of Mickey is alive simultaneously.
The official synopsis describes Mickey Barnes as an "unlikely hero" working for an employer who requires the ultimate commitment—dying repeatedly for a living. The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Holliday Grainger, Anamaria Vartolomei, Thomas Turgoose, Angus Imrie, Patsy Ferran, Daniel Henshall, and Steve Park.
Mickey 17 is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Bong Joon-ho, and Dooho Choi. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 31, 2025, promising a blend of innovative storytelling and star-studded performances.
