The Peaky Blinders film has officially begun production, with Cillian Murphy reprising his legendary role as Thomas Shelby. Netflix confirmed the exciting news by sharing first-look images from the set. The feature-length drama, directed by Tom Harper, is based on a screenplay written by Steven Knight, the creator and screenwriter behind the iconic series.
Joining Murphy in the cast are Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, and Tim Roth, among other notable names. The Peaky Blinders series, which ran for six seasons, first premiered on BBC Two in 2013 and concluded in 2022. The show is loosely based on the real-life gang of the same name and centers on the Shelby family's criminal activities in England after World War I. Murphy’s character, Tommy Shelby, is the head of the family and makes all the critical decisions. The series also featured performances from Paul Anderson, Helen McCrory, Tom Hardy, and Joe Cole.
The movie is produced by Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley, with executive producers Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason. Additionally, the project is being made in collaboration with BBC Film, marking the return of one of the most popular crime dramas to the screen. Fans eagerly await its release as the Peaky Blinders legacy continues.
