Netflix’s upcoming comedy Ladies First has enlisted a talented ensemble cast featuring Richard E. Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis, and Weruche Opia, joining the previously announced Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike. Directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You, The Beautiful Game), with a screenplay by Katie Silberman (Set It Up, Booksmart), Cinco Paul (Schmigadoon!, Despicable Me), and Natalie Krinsky (The Broken Hearts Gallery), this film is inspired by Eléonore Pourriat’s 2018 movie Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile, translated as I Am Not an Easy Man.
The plot follows a notorious womanizer who is forced to reckon with his actions after being transported into a reality dominated by women. The dynamic shifts when he meets a fiery female counterpart. The project is being produced by Liza Chasin through her 3dot Productions banner, alongside Eleonore Dailly and Edouard de Lachomette. Liza Chasin, known for her ongoing collaboration with Netflix, previously produced Lonely Planet and has The Life List with Sofia Carson in the works.
The cast brings a wealth of experience, with Grant known for Saltburn, Gosford Park, and his Oscar-nominated role in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, while Mortimer, fresh off Paddington in Peru, co-stars in an upcoming Noah Baumbach film. Dance, famous for portraying Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, has an extensive filmography including The Imitation Game, The King’s Man, and Alien 3. Shaw is renowned for her roles in Harry Potter, Killing Eve, and Andor.
Ladies First is set to deliver an intriguing mix of comedy and social commentary when it premieres on Netflix.
