Warner Bros has unveiled the first teaser for Companion, a romantic horror-thriller starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid in the lead roles. Directed by Drew Hancock, who is known for My Dead Ex and Suburgatory, the film also features Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, and Rupert Friend.
The 1.19-minute teaser kicks off with a quote introducing the film as "a new kind of love story." It paints a disturbing picture of Thatcher’s character, who finds herself imprisoned in the home of Quaid’s enigmatic and psychopathic character. As the trailer progresses, Thatcher’s character struggles to survive but faces constant peril. The suspense escalates in a chilling scene where she burns her arm over a candle while staring intently at Quaid.
With equal parts horror, romance, and thriller, Companion promises a unique cinematic experience. The film is produced by the team behind Barbarian—Raphael Margules, JD Lifshitz, Zach Cregger, and Roy Lee—with Tracy Rosenblum and Jamie Buckner as executive producers.
A BoulderLight Pictures production, Companion will hit theaters on January 10, 2025, presented by New Line Cinema in association with Vertigo Entertainment.
