Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has continued its impressive theatrical run in India, crossing Rs 150 crore gross at the domestic box office within 12 days of its release. According to industry estimates, the film has become Nolan's fastest-performing release in the Indian market, surpassing the early box office performance of his Academy Award-winning film Oppenheimer.

Released in theatres on July 17, The Odyssey has attracted strong audience response across major metropolitan cities as well as several regional markets. The film's consistent collections over weekdays have reflected sustained interest among moviegoers, helping it achieve the significant milestone in less than two weeks.

Industry tracking reports indicate that the Matt Damon-led historical epic has comfortably exceeded the box office performance of Oppenheimer over the corresponding release period. During its first 12 days in India, Oppenheimer had earned approximately Rs 116.94 crore gross, while The Odyssey has moved beyond the Rs 150 crore mark during the same timeframe.

The strong performance is being attributed to Christopher Nolan's popularity among Indian audiences, premium large-format screenings including IMAX, positive word-of-mouth publicity, and widespread critical appreciation. Nolan's films have consistently enjoyed a loyal following in India, where audiences have shown strong interest in large-scale cinematic experiences.

Matt Damon leads the cast of The Odyssey, portraying one of literature's most celebrated characters in an adaptation inspired by Homer's ancient Greek epic. The film combines mythology, action, drama, and visual spectacle, elements that have contributed to its broad appeal among audiences worldwide.

Trade analysts note that the film has maintained healthy occupancy rates even after its opening weekend, an important indicator of long-term box office success. Strong advance bookings, repeat viewership, and premium-format ticket sales have further supported its impressive earnings.

The success of The Odyssey also reinforces India's growing importance as an international market for Hollywood studios. Major global releases increasingly rely on strong performances in India, where audience demand for high-budget action and adventure films continues to expand.

Christopher Nolan has built a remarkable reputation among Indian moviegoers through films such as The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer. His latest release appears to have strengthened that connection, delivering another major commercial success in the country.

While the film has already crossed a significant milestone, its overall lifetime box office collections will depend on audience retention, competition from upcoming releases, and continued performance during the coming weeks. Trade experts believe the film remains well-positioned to add substantially to its earnings if the current momentum continues.

With Rs 150 crore gross already achieved, The Odyssey has established itself as one of the highest-performing Hollywood releases in India this year and another notable addition to Christopher Nolan's successful box office record.
