Streaming platforms are preparing for a busy August 2026 with the release of several highly anticipated films and series spanning drama, action, science fiction, crime, animation and historical storytelling. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and JioHotstar will introduce both returning franchises and original productions throughout the month.
The month begins with the return of the award-winning comedy series Ted Lasso Season 4, premiering on Apple TV on August 5. Despite the third season initially being promoted as the conclusion of the series, creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis returns alongside Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed and Juno Temple. The new season follows Ted as he takes charge of a second-division women's football team, marking a fresh chapter for the beloved character.
Also releasing on August 5 is Sterling Point on Amazon Prime Video. The coming-of-age drama stars Ella Rubin as Annie, who relocates to Canada after inheriting her grandfather's mysterious island. As she adapts to a new environment, Annie uncovers family secrets while discovering her own identity.
Netflix continues its lineup with My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 on August 6. Alan Ritchson reprises the lead role alongside an expanded supporting cast.
DC fans can look forward to Lanterns, premiering on JioHotstar on August 17. The series stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as Green Lanterns investigating a major mystery, while Nathan Fillion returns as Guy Gardner.
Netflix will release the fifth and final season of Outer Banks on August 20. The concluding chapter follows the Pogues as they seek justice after a devastating personal loss, bringing one of the platform's most popular adventure dramas to its conclusion.
