After the release of the Rebel Moon films, Zack Snyder is teaming up with Netflix once again for an untitled action thriller based on the Los Angeles Police Department. The film is currently in early development and co-written by Snyder and his frequent collaborator Kurt Johnstad, who previously worked with him on 300 and Rebel Moon. The story will delve into the tense, high-stakes world of an elite LAPD unit as they navigate the complex intersection of law and morality in intense situations.
Snyder will produce the film alongside his wife, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller through their production company, Stone Quarry. This project marks the fourth feature under the Stone Quarry-Netflix partnership, following Rebel Moon and its sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. Stone Quarry has also been involved with Army of the Dead, its prequel Army of Thieves, and the animated series Twilight of the Gods on Netflix.
This new venture comes after the two-part Rebel Moon saga, which premiered in late 2023 and early 2024. Although the films generated significant buzz, they fell short of critical and commercial expectations despite topping Netflix's viewership rankings for a period. Prior to Rebel Moon, Snyder found great success with Army of the Dead, which was one of Netflix's most-watched original films.
