Mohanlal’s much-awaited directorial debut Barroz is set to hit theatres on December 25. The announcement was made through a video featuring Fazil, the director of Mohanlal’s acting debut film Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980). Interestingly, the release date coincides with that of Manjil Virinja Pookkal and the iconic film Manichitrathazhu. Fazil shared that even Mohanlal was unaware of the coincidence when asking him to disclose the date.
Barroz has faced multiple postponements, including delays linked to the Hema Committee Report revelations. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner, the film stars Mohanlal in the titular role alongside Kallirroi Tziafeta, Ignacio Mateos, and Cesar Lorente Raton.
Based on Jijo Punnoose’s novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure, the movie is touted as a 3D fantasy adventure with dialogues by Kalavoor Ravikumar. The film boasts a talented technical team, including Santosh Sivan for cinematography, Jonathan Miller for sound design, Santhosh Raman for production design, and B Ajithkumar for editing.
The music is composed by young prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram, winner of The World’s Best, with Hollywood composer Mark Kilian providing the background score. Additionally, filmmaker TK Rajeev Kumar served as the creative head, ensuring a seamless vision for this ambitious project.
Fans eagerly await the Christmas release, marking another milestone in Mohanlal’s illustrious career.
