In a recent media interaction, director Lal Jose announced that actor Fahadh Faasil will take on a key role in his upcoming film, an adaptation of K N Prasanth’s novel Ponam. The story unfolds in the fictional village of Karimbunam, located along the Kerala-Karnataka border, and delves into themes of vengeance set against a backdrop of dense forests. Lal Jose described the project as a large-scale production featuring two main characters, one of whom will be portrayed by Fahadh. The director has yet to finalize the actor for the other pivotal role. This project marks a reunion between Lal Jose and Fahadh, who previously worked together on the 2013 Mammootty film Immanuel.
While details about the start of filming are still pending, Lal Jose confirmed that Santhosh Sivan will serve as the cinematographer. The film will also see the involvement of Hombale Films, the production banner known for its significant projects.
Fahadh Faasil was recently seen in Bougainvillea, directed by Amal Neerad, and has a packed schedule ahead with several projects across various languages. In Malayalam cinema, he is currently engaged in Althaf Salim's romantic comedy Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, and he will also star in debutant Roy's Karate Chandran and Vipin Das' gangster comedy alongside Tamil actor SJ Suryah.
