The first look of Appuram (The Other Side), the sophomore directorial effort by Indu Lakshmi, has been unveiled. The film features a strong cast including Jagadish, Mini IG, and Anagha Ravi in leading roles. Recently, Appuram received recognition as it was selected for the International Competition category at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). This places it among an elite group of films, as it is one of only two Malayalam films, alongside Fasil Muhammed’s Feminichi Fathima (Feminist Fathima), to compete in this prestigious category.
Appuram is produced by Indu Lakshmi and Ravi Sreedhar, with the cinematography handled by Rakesh Dharan. The film’s editing is done by Appu N Bhattathiri, while Bijibal provides the music. Notably, the trio of Indu Lakshmi, Ravi Sreedhar, and Rakesh Dharan is also credited as co-producers, emphasizing their collaborative effort in bringing this project to life.
Indu Lakshmi made her directorial debut last year with Nila, which featured well-known actors Shanthi Krishna, Mammukoya, and Vineeth in significant roles. This debut was produced under the Kerala State Film Development Corporation Ltd. (KSFDC) as part of the Kerala Government's initiative aimed at women empowerment in the film industry. The release of Appuram marks another significant step in her career as a filmmaker.
