On October 5, Malayalam actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran took to social media to announce that the shooting schedule for his highly anticipated directorial venture, L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal, has been relocated from Gujarat to Hyderabad. This change comes after the Gujarat schedule was abruptly halted due to torrential rains. Prithviraj expressed his pride in his team's ability to shift the filming location in just 12 hours, showcasing their adaptability amid challenging conditions.
L2: Empuraan is billed as one of the most expensive films in Malayalam cinema and has previously filmed in various locations, including Kerala, Chennai, Ladakh, the UK, and the US. Produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, the film serves as a sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer (2019), with Mohanlal reprising his role as Khureshi-Ab'raam, also known as Stephen Nedumpally. The cast includes Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith Sukumaran, who are all returning from the first film. The script is penned by Murali Gopy, and the original crew members, including cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev and music director Deepak Dev, are also back for this sequel.
