The team behind L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, has unveiled a new character poster featuring actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran, who reprises his role as Zayed Masood. Released on Wednesday in celebration of Prithviraj's birthday, the poster highlights the character with the caption: "Forsaken by God… nurtured by the DEVIL! #ZayedMasood The Emperor’s General." This film marks Prithviraj's third directorial collaboration with Mohanlal, following Lucifer and Bro Daddy.
Currently in production in Thiruvananthapuram, L2: Empuraan is scripted by Murali Gopy and has seen multiple shooting schedules in various locations, both in India and abroad. Alongside Prithviraj, the film will feature returning cast members from Lucifer, including Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Saikumar, and Nandu. The technical team also includes familiar faces, such as cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev, composer Deepak Dev, and action choreographer Stunt Silva. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas in collaboration with Lyca Productions.
In addition to directing L2: Empuraan, Prithviraj has a busy slate of projects lined up in Malayalam cinema. These include Vilayath Buddha directed by Jayan Nambiar, Khalifa by Vysakh, Santhosh Trophy by Vipin Das, Nobody by Nissam Basheer, and Kaaliyan by S Mahesh. He is also involved in the Hindi film Sarzameen, starring alongside Kajol, and will reprise his role as Varadharaja Mannar in the second installment of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel's Telugu film Salaar.
