Director Vipin Das, known for Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, is teaming up again with Prithviraj Sukumaran for the family drama Santhosh Trophy. The film's announcement came with the release of its title poster on social media, coinciding with Prithviraj's birthday. The poster suggests that Prithviraj will portray the titular character, Santhosh, with the tagline: "Get ready to meet Santhosh as he chases his dream trophy on his next birthday!" This project marks their second collaboration, following the success of this year’s hit film Guruvayoorambala Nadayil.
Santhosh Trophy is produced by Listin Stephen for Magic Frames in collaboration with Supriya Menon for Prithviraj Productions, marking the fifth joint venture between the two production houses. Their previous collaborations include notable films such as Driving License (2019), Jana Gana Mana (2022), Kaduva (2022), and Gold (2022).
In addition to Santhosh Trophy, Vipin Das has plans for a gangster comedy featuring Fahadh Faasil and Tamil actor SJ Suryah, though he noted that it would take more time to develop due to the actors' schedules. The film is also set to introduce several newcomers, as mentioned by the director.
Currently, Prithviraj is busy directing L2: Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to the Mohanlal-starrer Lucifer (2019).
