On September 9, the team behind Asif Ali's forthcoming Malayalam film Kishkindha Kaandam unveiled the film's first full-length trailer on social media. Scheduled for release on September 12 as part of the Onam celebrations, the film has been granted a U/A certificate by the CBFC. Directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, who previously worked with Asif Ali on Kakshi Amminipilla, Kishkindha Kaandam is described as "a tale of three wise monkeys."
The newly released trailer suggests a thrilling narrative set in the forest reserve of Kallepathi. The plot involves Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali as a married couple, with Vijayaraghavan portraying Asif's father. The trailer reveals a story involving hidden secrets and local unrest, with notable visuals of the lush forest and its inhabitants, including monkeys. The teaser also hints at historical tensions, such as the imposition of Section 144 and Naxal movements from the 1970s.
The film's technical crew includes Bahul Ramesh as the screenplay writer and cinematographer, with music by Sushin Shyam and editing by Sooraj ES. Produced by Joby George under Goodwill Entertainments, the film wrapped up production in August 2023. The cast also features Nishan, Jagadish, Ashokan, Nizhalgal Ravi, Shebin Benson, Major Ravi, and Kottayam Ramesh.
