Two years ago, it was announced that Attakathi Dinesh and Kalaiyarasan would team up once again, this time for Thandakaaranyam, directed by Athiyan Athirai, the filmmaker behind Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu (Gundu). The makers have now confirmed that the film's first single will be released on October 23. The announcement poster features Dinesh and Rithyvika, hinting that the first song will likely be a romantic track.
The first-look poster revealed Kalaiyarasan in camouflage, holding a red flag, while Dinesh appears as a villager wielding a twig as a weapon. The title Thandakaaranyam refers to the forest from the Hindu epic Ramayana, where Lord Ram was exiled, suggesting that the story is set in a forest and explores themes of naxalism.
Produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions along with Learn and Teach Productions, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Riythvika, Vinsu Sam, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Muthukumar, Arul Dass, Saranya Ravichandran, and Bala Saravanan in key roles.
The technical team includes cinematographer Pratheep Kaliraja, editor Selva RK, and composer Justin Prabhakaran. Filming was completed by mid-July last year, and the project is currently in the dubbing and post-production phase.
