Phoenix, the much-anticipated directorial debut of action choreographer Anl Arasu, has had its release date postponed. Originally set to hit theatres on November 14, the production banner AK Braveman Picturess, led by Rajalakshmy Arasakumar, officially announced today that the film's release will be delayed. The makers attributed the delay to cuts imposed by the Censor Board for certification, stating that they would soon announce a new release date.
The decision to push back the film's premiere is also being seen as an opportunity to make further modifications to the film, promising to enhance the overall cinematic experience. The filmmakers assured audiences that Phoenix (Veezhan) would "rise stronger than ever," with a more exciting and anticipated release. In their statement, they expressed confidence that the film’s final version would bring greater excitement to viewers.
The film introduces Surya, the son of actor Vijay Sethupathi, in a lead role as a professional boxer who ends up behind bars for a mysterious reason. The film's teaser reveals a gripping narrative where Surya’s character treats boxing as his life’s passion, while the trailer teases a jailbreak plan unfolding in the background. Surya, who has previously appeared as a child artist in his father’s films Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Sindhubaadh, takes a significant step forward in his career with this lead role.
The supporting cast includes Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Harish Uthaman, among others, with Muthukumar, Sampath, Dileepan, Vignesh, Varsha Viswanath, Abi Nakshatra, Sathya NJ, 'Atti' Rishi, and Poovaiyar playing key roles. Anl Arasu, who is also the film's stunt choreographer, teams up with a skilled technical crew including music composer Sam CS, cinematographer R Velraj, and editor Praveen KL.
Phoenix is expected to bring a thrilling mix of action and drama, and fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of its new release date.
