Chiyaan Vikram’s latest film, Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, is generating buzz as it prepares for its OTT debut following its theatrical release on August 15, 2024. The period drama received widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics alike. Although the film was initially slated for an OTT release on September 20, this has since been postponed, much to the anticipation of fans.
In a recent interview, producer Gnanavel Raja addressed speculation regarding the reason for the delay, dismissing rumors of financial issues. He revealed that Netflix has planned to release Thangalaan during the Deepavali (Diwali) festival to maximize viewership, given the film’s stature. Raja noted, “They wanted a festival release since Thangalaan is a big film. However, our favourite YouTubers are claiming that there are some issues with Thangalaan. They have a knack for claiming that there is an issue when in reality, there isn’t any.” This indicates a confident approach towards the film’s future and highlights the excitement surrounding its upcoming release.
