Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary at a commemorative event held in Patna. The leaders offered floral tributes and remembered Patel’s enduring contribution to India’s political and administrative foundations.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries recalled Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in unifying the nation during the early years after Independence. Known as the Iron Man of India, Patel played a decisive role in the integration of more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union, ensuring the country’s territorial and political unity.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan highlighted Patel’s firm leadership and administrative acumen, noting that his vision laid the groundwork for a strong and stable India. He said Patel’s commitment to national integrity and disciplined governance continues to guide public administration even today.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar described Sardar Patel as a leader who believed in unity, constitutional values, and collective progress. He emphasised that Patel’s efforts in strengthening institutions and maintaining internal security were crucial in shaping modern India. The Chief Minister urged people, especially the younger generation, to learn from Patel’s dedication, honesty, and sense of responsibility.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also paid homage, stating that Patel’s life remains a source of inspiration for leaders across political ideologies. He noted that Patel’s emphasis on national interest above personal or political considerations remains relevant in the present times.
The tribute ceremony was attended by senior government officials, public representatives, and citizens who gathered to honour the legacy of one of India’s foremost leaders. Floral wreaths were placed at Patel’s statue as a mark of respect, and moments of reflection were observed to commemorate his service to the nation.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, born in 1875, served as India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. His leadership during the integration of princely states is widely regarded as one of the most significant achievements in India’s post-independence history. Patel was also instrumental in laying the foundations of the Indian civil services, which he described as the steel frame of the country.
The leaders present at the event reiterated the importance of remembering national icons and preserving their values in contemporary governance. They stressed that Patel’s vision of unity, integrity, and strong administration remains essential for India’s continued development.
The event concluded with a call to uphold the principles that Sardar Patel stood for and to work collectively towards national unity and progress.
