Gujarat Education Board Announces Policy Change for Science Students in Classes 11 and 12
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has recently made a significant policy change for Class 11 and Class 12 science students, allowing them to change their study groups during their academic journey. This decision has been welcomed by many students across the state, as previously, once a student chose a group in Class 11, they were not allowed to switch groups later.
Class 11 and 12 science students are offered three primary groups:
- Group A: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- Group B: Physics, Chemistry, Biology
- Group AB: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Under the new guidelines, students in Class 11 can now change their group preferences even after they have passed the Class 11 exams. For example, if a student initially opted for Group A in Class 11, they will be allowed to select Group A or Group AB for Class 12.
Additionally, if a Class 12 student clears the exam with Group B, they will now have the option to opt for Mathematics in the supplementary exams. The new rules allow more flexibility, which was not possible under the earlier guidelines.
Key Highlights of the New Guidelines:
- Class 11 students can now switch between Group A, B, or AB for their Class 12 studies, irrespective of their initial group selection.
- Class 12 students who pass in Group B can choose Mathematics in their supplementary exams.
- The decision is effective immediately, which means students appearing for the board exams starting from February 27, 2025 will benefit from this change.
This decision is expected to bring significant relief to students who wish to make adjustments in their academic focus based on their interests or academic performance. Students are encouraged to stay updated with the official announcements and guidelines from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.
