In a formal appeal, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has approached the President of India, raising concerns over a recent incident involving Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The party alleges that Soren’s helicopter was significantly delayed due to security protocols established for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present in the same vicinity. The JMM’s letter argues that the delay disrupted the Chief Minister's schedule and questions the prioritization of security arrangements that affect state leaders’ movement.

According to the JMM, Chief Minister Soren's chopper was grounded for an extended period as the airspace remained restricted for the Prime Minister's security. The party contends that while national security is paramount, delays of this nature are avoidable with better coordination. The letter urges the President to ensure that such delays do not recur, stressing that they could interfere with the efficient functioning of state governance.

The JMM has called for an assessment of the current protocols to allow smoother coordination between central and state security arrangements. Party representatives argue that, as a Chief Minister, Soren’s official duties are equally time-sensitive, and his work should not be compromised by logistical delays.

The appeal has sparked a political conversation, with opposition leaders weighing in on the need for equitable treatment of state leaders’ schedules alongside central figures. The JMM hopes that the President’s intervention will lead to improved planning and mutual respect between state and central security arrangements, thus preventing such incidents in the future.
