The skies over Ranchi roared with excitement as the Indian Air Force’s prestigious Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) delivered yet another spellbinding performance at the Namkum Army Ground, drawing thousands of spectators from across the city. This marked the second consecutive day of the airshow, showcasing the IAF’s aerial excellence and leaving the crowd awestruck.
The Surya Kiran team, known for its precision flying and daredevil aerobatics, comprises nine Hawk aircraft painted in striking red and white. They executed a range of complex aerial formations such as loops, barrel rolls, heart shapes, and synchronized dives — all performed with flawless timing. The formations symbolized strength, unity, and discipline — core values of the Indian Air Force.
Families, students, defence enthusiasts, and children gathered in large numbers to witness the spectacle. The high-energy airshow was accompanied by live commentary explaining each formation and maneuver, helping the public understand the skill and coordination required behind each move. Every twist and turn in the sky was met with thunderous applause from the crowd.
The airshow was part of the Indian Air Force’s public outreach and awareness campaign, aimed at encouraging youth to consider careers in the defence services. It also sought to foster a deeper connection between the armed forces and the civilian population. Representatives from the Indian Air Force interacted with students and visitors, providing information on recruitment, training, and life in the IAF.
Group Captain Anil Verma, the commanding officer of the Surya Kiran team, said, “We are proud to bring this display to Ranchi. The enthusiasm and energy of the people here are overwhelming. Our mission is to inspire the next generation and give them a glimpse of the precision, discipline, and spirit of the Indian Air Force.”
This event was conducted with the full support of local administration and security personnel, ensuring a safe and smooth experience for attendees. Special viewing areas were arranged for school children and defence aspirants.
For many in Ranchi, this was their first opportunity to see a live airshow — and it left a lasting impression. Spectators were seen recording videos, waving flags, and applauding the pilots for their bravery and finesse.
As the Hawk jets soared into the sky in a final salute, the sense of pride and patriotism among the audience was unmistakable. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team’s two-day performance in Ranchi was not just a visual treat but a memorable celebration of India’s defence excellence.
