Adampur, Punjab:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to the Indian Air Force Station in Adampur, Punjab, days after the successful completion of Operation Sindoor, a recent military initiative aimed at enhancing India's tactical preparedness in response to heightened regional tensions. The Prime Minister’s visit is being viewed as a morale-boosting gesture and a reaffirmation of the central government’s focus on defence readiness and strategic stability.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi interacted with senior officials of the Indian Air Force and met with several air warriors stationed at the base. He was briefed on the outcomes of Operation Sindoor and the overall operational preparedness of the station, which plays a critical role in the country’s air defence architecture, particularly in the northern sector.
The Prime Minister also inspected key installations and infrastructure at the air base, including combat aircraft, maintenance facilities, and surveillance systems. Officials provided him with insights into the logistical and strategic importance of Adampur Air Base, which has been a frontline defence point for several decades.
According to defence sources, Operation Sindoor involved advanced training exercises, rapid deployment drills, and a review of tactical coordination between air and ground forces. It served as a show of strength and preparedness amidst ongoing regional challenges.
In a statement after the visit, Prime Minister Modi commended the professionalism and dedication of the Indian Air Force. He highlighted the government’s continued investments in modernising the armed forces, improving infrastructure, and ensuring that India remains capable of defending its sovereignty in any scenario.
“The Indian Air Force is the pride of our nation. Their role in protecting our skies and responding to threats with precision and strength is a testament to their commitment and excellence,” the Prime Minister stated.
He also emphasized the need for continued innovation in defence technologies and called for enhanced collaboration between the defence forces and India’s growing indigenous defence manufacturing sector.
Defence analysts noted that the Prime Minister’s visit carries both symbolic and strategic significance. It sends a strong message of unity and readiness at a time when defence and diplomatic dynamics in the region remain sensitive.
The Adampur Air Base, located near Jalandhar, is the second-largest Air Force base in India and serves as a crucial asset in northern India's aerial defence strategy. It houses several squadrons and supports both peacetime operations and rapid response missions.
Security measures were heightened across the region during the Prime Minister’s visit. The Indian Air Force and local administration ensured a smooth and secure program, with coordinated efforts from intelligence and security agencies.
The visit concluded with the Prime Minister addressing air force personnel, thanking them for their service, and reaffirming the nation’s gratitude for their unwavering dedication.
