Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath rode Japan’s advanced Maglev train in Yamanashi during his official visit, gaining first hand experience of one of the world’s fastest transportation systems. The train operates using magnetic levitation technology, eliminating direct contact with tracks and enabling speeds of up to 600 kilometres per hour. The system has been developed and operated by the Central Japan Railway Company as part of Japan’s high speed rail innovation.
The ride formed part of the Chief Minister’s five day visit to Singapore and Japan, aimed at attracting global investment and strengthening industrial partnerships for Uttar Pradesh. His tour includes engagements with business leaders, government officials and corporate representatives in sectors such as manufacturing, mobility, technology, logistics and urban infrastructure.
Before arriving in Japan, Yogi Adityanath held an investor roadshow in Singapore, where he presented Uttar Pradesh as a secure and rapidly growing investment destination. According to official statements, the state has received investment proposals worth approximately Rs 1 lakh crore, with Memorandums of Understanding valued at Rs 60,000 crore already finalised. The Chief Minister described these developments as significant milestones in the state’s economic progress.
During his interactions with investors, he emphasised that Uttar Pradesh offers a combination of scale, skilled workforce and improved administrative efficiency. He assured potential investors that their investments would be secure and supported by policy reforms and infrastructure development. The state government has been promoting industrial corridors, expressways and digital governance initiatives to enhance ease of doing business.
The Chief Minister highlighted economic growth figures, noting that Uttar Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product has increased substantially over the past nine years. He stated that the state now contributes a significant share to India’s overall Gross Domestic Product and has improved its standing in national ease of doing business assessments.
In Japan, the visit includes stops in Yamanashi, Osaka and Kyoto. A major component of the tour is the Japan Uttar Pradesh Partnership Conference, which focuses on strengthening cooperation in manufacturing, electric vehicles, electronics, railways, engineering, chemicals and logistics. Discussions are expected to explore collaboration in advanced technologies and industrial investment.
The Maglev train experience in Yamanashi symbolised the state government’s interest in modern transportation systems and infrastructure innovation. Exposure to high speed rail technology aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s broader infrastructure goals, including expanding metro networks, expressways and industrial hubs.
Officials indicated that the visit seeks to build long term partnerships with Japanese corporations and investors. Japan has historically been a key partner for India in infrastructure and industrial projects, including high speed rail initiatives.
Through engagements in Singapore and Japan, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to position the state as a competitive destination for global investment. The outreach reflects ongoing efforts to integrate regional development with international collaboration, technology transfer and sustainable industrial growth.
