The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fierce rebuttal against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his controversial 'naach-gaana' comment on the Ayodhya Ram Temple’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony. In a sharp response, the BJP labeled Gandhi a 'first-class liar', accusing him of disrespecting the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus who revere the Ram Mandir.
During one of his public addresses, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Ayodhya event, saying it was filled with "naach-gaana" (song and dance) and attended by influential business figures like Ambani and Adani, while failing to include a single farmer. His comments sparked immediate outrage within the BJP, which was quick to retaliate, calling his remarks not only factually incorrect but also an attack on the faith of devotees across India.
BJP spokespersons condemned Gandhi’s remarks, emphasizing that the Ram Temple is a symbol of Hindu faith and unity, and the event was a significant religious occasion for Hindus globally. The party accused the Congress leader of attempting to politicize the religious event for electoral gains and diverting public attention from more pressing issues like development.
Leading the charge, BJP’s prominent leaders took to social media and press briefings to denounce Gandhi’s remarks, calling him a "habitual liar" who had a history of making misleading and irresponsible statements. According to them, Gandhi’s words were not only an insult to the temple’s devotees but also a reflection of Congress's longstanding disregard for Hindu traditions.
The Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony, held in Ayodhya, has been one of the most significant events for the BJP, marking the culmination of decades-long efforts to fulfill a promise made to its supporters. BJP leaders highlighted that the construction of the temple is an outcome of the faith and hard work of millions of devotees and volunteers, who contributed to the cause over the years.
BJP further emphasized that the event was not about business tycoons or celebrities but about honoring Lord Ram and upholding the cultural and religious significance of the temple. They also criticized Gandhi for dragging unrelated issues like farmers into a sacred ceremony, accusing him of trying to distract from the government's pro-farmer initiatives.
The controversy over Gandhi’s comments has once again brought attention to the broader ideological clash between the BJP and Congress, particularly over matters of religion and nationalism. While the Congress leader has often spoken about promoting secular values, the BJP accuses him and his party of disrespecting Hindu beliefs and pandering to minority appeasement.
BJP’s swift and sharp response suggests that it will not tolerate any remarks that it perceives as an affront to Hinduism or the Ram Mandir, a project that holds deep emotional and cultural value for the party and its supporters.
As the verbal battle intensifies, the controversy surrounding Gandhi’s remarks is expected to remain a heated political issue, with both parties attempting to capitalize on the situation ahead of upcoming elections. The BJP’s retort highlights the sensitivity surrounding religious issues in Indian politics and how such comments can quickly escalate into major controversies.
