Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), are on the ground, helping to evacuate families and provide them with emergency aid.

In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the flood situation has become increasingly serious as both the Ganga and Yamuna rivers have risen above the danger mark. The rising water levels have submerged large parts of the district, affecting more than 200 villages and nearly 60 areas within the city.

The situation is the result of continuous heavy rainfall in the region and water being released from upstream reservoirs and barrages. According to district officials, several embankments are under pressure, and low-lying areas near the rivers have been completely inundated. Authorities are closely monitoring water levels and have initiated relief and rescue operations to protect affected residents.

Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes and are taking shelter in makeshift camps set up by the district administration. Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), are on the ground, helping to evacuate families and provide them with emergency aid. Boats and other essential equipment have been deployed in flood-hit areas for rescue and supply distribution.

The local administration has arranged temporary shelters in schools and public buildings where food, drinking water, and medical aid are being provided. Sanitation measures are also being implemented to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases. Pregnant women, elderly citizens, and children are being given special attention in relief efforts.

Traffic in several parts of the city has been disrupted, and power cuts have been reported in flooded zones. Some key roads and bridges are under water, and authorities have issued advisories asking people to avoid non-essential travel in affected regions. School operations in impacted areas have been suspended until further notice.

Officials from the Central Water Commission (CWC) have confirmed that water levels in the Ganga and Yamuna are expected to remain high for the next few days. However, no further rainfall is expected in the immediate forecast, which may provide some relief to the ongoing situation.

In response to the crisis, the Uttar Pradesh government has instructed all district officials in vulnerable regions to stay on high alert. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reviewed the situation and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens. Compensation and rehabilitation plans are being prepared for affected families.

Residents are being urged to remain in contact with local officials, avoid going near riverbanks, and follow updates issued by government authorities. Emergency helplines have been activated, and citizens can contact them for assistance.

As the water levels continue to pose a threat, the administration and relief teams are working around the clock to manage the crisis and minimize damage.
