Uttar Pradesh Minister Kapil Dev Aggarwal faces a legal setback as a special MP-MLA court in Muzaffarnagar issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) for his repeated absence from hearings concerning a case filed during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections.

The case dates back to January 11, 2022, when Aggarwal organized election-related gatherings in the Ramlila Teela area without official approval, violating the Election Commission’s Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The court, led by Special Judge Devendra Singh Fauzdar, ordered the minister to attend on September 13, 2024, to address the warrant.

Aggarwal, who serves as the Minister of State for Skill Development in Uttar Pradesh, has been avoiding court appearances, prompting the court to take this action. His lawyer, Vinod Kumar Gupta, indicated that the minister will comply with the court's order on the next hearing date, aiming to recall the warrant. This case is part of a larger issue where numerous politicians face legal action due to violations of election regulations during the heated 2022 Uttar Pradesh state elections.

Aggarwal’s political and legal standing may be significantly impacted depending on the court’s ruling in the upcoming hearing. The case serves as a reminder of the strict enforcement of election laws and the accountability of public officials during political campaigns. As the legal proceedings unfold, the outcome will determine further steps for Aggarwal and his political future.
