Authorities in Prayagraj have announced a detailed traffic plan ahead of the ‘Maghi Purnima Snan’ at the ongoing Maha Kumbh, implementing strict ‘No Vehicle Zones’ in key areas near the pilgrimage sites. With lakhs of devotees expected to take a holy dip in the sacred rivers, the measures aim to ensure smooth crowd management and public safety.

As per the advisory, vehicles will be restricted in and around the Sangam area, and alternative routes have been designated for movement. Pilgrims and visitors are encouraged to use public transport or park their vehicles at designated spots before proceeding on foot. Adequate security arrangements, medical facilities, and emergency response teams have been deployed to assist devotees.

Authorities have urged pilgrims to plan their visit accordingly, follow traffic signs, and adhere to the designated paths to avoid congestion. The administration has also set up information centers to guide devotees and ensure a hassle-free experience during the auspicious bathing ritual.

Prayagraj authorities have issued an extensive traffic advisory in anticipation of the massive gathering of devotees for the ‘Maghi Purnima Snan’ at the ongoing Maha Kumbh. To ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims and maintain security, strict traffic regulations, including ‘No Vehicle Zones,’ have been put in place in and around the Sangam area.

Maghi Purnima, considered one of the most auspicious bathing days during the Kumbh Mela, is expected to draw lakhs of devotees who will take a holy dip in the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers. Given the large influx of people, the local administration has implemented a well-planned traffic management strategy to prevent congestion and facilitate safe access to the bathing ghats.

Traffic and Vehicle Restrictions

According to the advisory, entry of private and commercial vehicles will be restricted in key areas leading to the Sangam from the evening before the bathing ritual until the completion of the event. Parking facilities have been arranged at designated points outside the main pilgrimage zone, and shuttle services will be available to transport devotees closer to the venue.

To further streamline movement, alternative traffic routes have been set up, with road diversions in place to prevent congestion. Heavy vehicles, including buses and freight carriers, will be prohibited from entering specific areas to avoid traffic blockages. Local residents are advised to plan their commutes accordingly, while emergency response vehicles will be stationed at key points for medical and security assistance.

Security and Crowd Management

Given the scale of the gathering, an extensive security deployment has been made, including police personnel, rapid response teams, and surveillance drones to monitor the crowd. Temporary medical camps, lost-and-found centers, and help desks have also been set up at multiple locations to assist devotees and manage emergencies effectively.

Authorities have urged pilgrims to follow the guidelines strictly, use designated pathways, and cooperate with security personnel for a smooth and spiritually fulfilling experience. Information centers have been set up at various points, and officials have been assigned to provide real-time updates on crowd movement and safety instructions.

The Prayagraj administration has appealed to devotees to plan their journey in advance, avoid last-minute rush, and stay informed about route changes and vehicle restrictions through official notifications. The measures are designed to ensure a safe, organized, and seamless pilgrimage experience for all visitors participating in the sacred ‘Maghi Purnima Snan’ at the Maha Kumbh.
