The Aam Aadmi Party has announced its support for students participating in protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said the party would stand by students who feel threatened during their demonstrations and encouraged those facing security concerns to reach out to the party for assistance.

His remarks came amid ongoing discussions surrounding student protests in the national capital. Addressing the issue, Bharadwaj said the AAP remains committed to protecting the democratic right to peaceful protest. He stated that students should be able to express their views without fear or intimidation and assured them that the party would extend support whenever necessary.

The statement followed a recent order issued by the Delhi government regarding legal action against individuals who participated in the protests. According to the order, no further adverse legal action would be taken against participants involved in peaceful demonstrations. The government clarified that the decision was intended to ensure that students exercising their democratic rights would not face unnecessary legal consequences.

At the same time, the order also emphasized that individuals with criminal backgrounds or those found involved in unlawful activities would continue to face action in accordance with the law. Officials stated that the decision does not provide immunity from prosecution in cases involving criminal offences or violations of public order.

The announcement has generated political reactions from different quarters. Supporters of the move argue that protecting peaceful protesters is essential in a democratic society and that students should be able to raise issues without fear of legal repercussions. They believe the government's clarification provides reassurance to those participating in lawful demonstrations.

Critics, however, have questioned certain aspects of the announcement and called for equal enforcement of the law regardless of political affiliation. They maintain that while peaceful protests are protected under democratic principles, any incidents involving violence, damage to public property, or criminal conduct must be dealt with strictly under existing legal provisions.

Student protests have frequently taken place at Jantar Mantar, one of Delhi's designated locations for public demonstrations. The venue has hosted protests on a wide range of social, educational, and political issues over the years, making it a prominent space for public expression.

Political observers note that statements made by political parties during periods of public protest often become part of broader political debates. They also point out that the legal status of protest participants ultimately depends on official government orders and the findings of law enforcement agencies.

As of now, the Delhi government's order indicates that peaceful participants will not face further adverse legal action. However, authorities have reiterated that individuals accused of criminal offences will continue to be subject to investigation and legal proceedings wherever applicable.

The situation continues to attract public and political attention, with further developments expected as authorities and political leaders respond to ongoing events.
