West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul has announced several measures focused on women’s safety, administrative transparency and action against illegal activities in West Bengal. Speaking during a public event, the minister stated that ensuring the safety and freedom of women would remain a major priority for the government.
According to Agnimitra Paul, women should have the confidence and freedom to travel at any time of the day or night without fear. She said the administration would work towards strengthening security arrangements and ensuring that complaints filed by women receive immediate and priority attention from the police department.
The minister emphasized that law enforcement agencies would be instructed to respond quickly and effectively to cases involving women’s safety. She also stressed the importance of creating a safe environment in both urban and rural areas so that women can move freely for education, employment and personal activities.
In addition to women’s safety measures, Agnimitra Paul announced plans to improve transparency in civic administration through increased surveillance systems. She stated that CCTV cameras would be installed and monitored in civic bodies and government offices to ensure accountability and improve public confidence in administrative operations.
The minister said these monitoring systems would help reduce irregularities and improve the efficiency of government services. According to officials, the move is also aimed at ensuring greater transparency in the functioning of local civic institutions across the state.
Agnimitra Paul further announced strict action against illegal toll plazas, unauthorized sand extraction and illegal coal mining activities. She stated that such activities cause financial losses to the government and also create environmental and law and order concerns in several regions of the state.
Illegal sand mining and coal extraction have remained major issues in some parts of West Bengal for several years. Successive governments and law enforcement agencies have carried out operations to prevent such activities. The minister said the administration would continue taking firm action against those involved in unlawful operations.
The government also plans to improve the implementation of the Lakshmir Bhandar welfare scheme, which provides financial assistance to women beneficiaries in the state. According to the minister, steps would be taken to streamline the distribution process and address administrative delays or technical issues faced by beneficiaries.
Apart from welfare measures, the minister highlighted the need to improve public infrastructure across West Bengal. She mentioned that roads, civic facilities and public services would receive attention as part of the government’s broader development plans.
