The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he is acting as a "tool for foreign agencies" to undermine India's sovereignty and national interests. The remark comes in response to recent comments made by former US President Donald Trump regarding India’s political climate.
BJP spokespersons argue that Gandhi has consistently echoed narratives that align with external forces seeking to destabilize India. They claim that his statements, often critical of the government’s policies, are used by foreign entities to discredit India on global platforms. According to BJP leaders, this pattern of behavior raises concerns about his allegiance to national interests.
Union ministers and senior BJP leaders have pointed to instances where Rahul Gandhi has allegedly criticized Indian institutions on international forums, accusing him of damaging India's global reputation. "His words are frequently used by anti-India elements abroad. This is not just political opposition but a deliberate attempt to weaken the nation," a senior BJP leader stated.
The Congress, however, has dismissed the allegations, calling them politically motivated and an attempt to divert attention from pressing domestic issues. Party leaders argue that questioning the government’s actions is a fundamental part of democracy and that silencing dissent by labeling it as ‘anti-national’ is undemocratic.
Amid the political clash, analysts suggest that the BJP’s attack on Rahul Gandhi is part of a broader strategy to counter opposition narratives ahead of upcoming elections. The remarks by Trump, which triggered this debate, have further fueled the ongoing rivalry between the BJP and Congress, intensifying the political landscape in India.
