The Election Commission has started the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll in Delhi, marking one of the most extensive voter verification exercises ahead of future elections. More than 13,000 Booth Level Officers have been deployed across the National Capital Territory to carry out door to door verification of voters in all 70 Assembly constituencies.
According to the Election Commission, the revision process aims to ensure that the electoral roll remains accurate, updated and free from duplicate or ineligible entries. Booth Level Officers will visit households to verify voter details and distribute enumeration forms. Eligible voters are expected to complete these forms and provide the necessary information within the prescribed timeline.
The field verification exercise will continue until July 29. During this period, Booth Level Officers will verify the residential status and eligibility of voters while also assisting residents in completing the required documentation. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with election officials and ensure that the information submitted is accurate and up to date.
After the completion of the verification process, the Election Commission will publish the draft electoral roll on August 5. This draft list will allow voters to check their details and raise claims or objections if they notice any errors, omissions or incorrect entries. The claims and objections received during this period will be examined by election authorities before the final electoral roll is prepared.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 7. The revised voter list will serve as the official electoral roll for future elections conducted in Delhi until the next revision is undertaken.
Political parties have also started assisting residents by creating awareness about the revision process and helping eligible voters complete the required formalities. Their participation is expected to improve voter awareness and encourage maximum participation in the verification exercise.
Election officials have advised all eligible voters to cooperate with Booth Level Officers during the verification drive. Residents should ensure that they provide correct personal details and supporting documents wherever required. This will help prevent errors in the electoral roll and ensure that eligible citizens can exercise their voting rights without difficulty.
