An FIR has been registered following a complaint related to an AI generated deepfake video allegedly involving Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The case was registered after Goyal informed authorities that a manipulated video had been created using artificial intelligence to falsely portray his remarks made to the media outside Parliament.

According to Piyush Goyal, the original video of his interaction with journalists was digitally altered using AI technology. He stated that the manipulated version misrepresented his comments and was circulated on social media platforms with the intention of spreading misinformation and creating confusion among the public.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Goyal said the video was maliciously edited through artificial intelligence to distort his actual remarks. He described the content as a deepfake and called for strict action against those responsible for creating and distributing the manipulated video.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Chanakyapuri Police Station in New Delhi. Law enforcement authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the video, identify those involved in its creation and circulation, and examine whether any provisions under the relevant laws have been violated.

The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence to create realistic but misleading digital content.
