Political tensions escalated in West Bengal after five BJP workers were reportedly injured in a bomb attack in the Panihati area, only hours after the killing of Chandranath Rath, an aide to senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. The incidents have intensified the political atmosphere in the state, with both the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress exchanging allegations over the violence.

According to police officials, the bomb attack took place in the Panihati region of North 24 Parganas district. Several BJP supporters who were present in the area sustained injuries during the explosion and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities stated that some of the injured individuals suffered minor wounds, while others are under medical observation.

The incident occurred shortly after the reported killing of Chandranath Rath, who was known to be associated with the office of Suvendu Adhikari. Rath was allegedly shot dead earlier in the day, leading to strong reactions from BJP leaders and supporters across the state.

Following the bomb attack, BJP leaders accused members of the ruling All India Trinamool Congress of being involved in retaliatory political violence. Party representatives claimed the incidents reflected deteriorating law and order conditions in the state and demanded strict action against those responsible.

However, leaders of the ruling All India Trinamool Congress denied the allegations and stated that the BJP was attempting to politicize the incidents. TMC representatives urged police to conduct an impartial investigation and identify the actual individuals behind the attacks.

West Bengal Police have confirmed that investigations are underway into both incidents. Police teams have reportedly begun collecting evidence from the attack locations and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace suspects and establish the sequence of events. Senior officers stated that additional security personnel have been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent further violence and maintain public order.

The latest incidents have once again highlighted the intense political rivalry between the BJP and the TMC in West Bengal. Political clashes and allegations of violence have frequently dominated the state’s political environment, especially during election periods and high-profile political campaigns.

Political analysts believe such incidents may further deepen tensions between the rival parties ahead of upcoming political activities in the state. Opposition leaders have called for enhanced security for party workers, while the ruling party has urged all political groups to maintain peace and avoid inflammatory statements.

Meanwhile, local residents in affected areas expressed concern over rising political unrest and called for immediate measures to ensure safety and stability. Authorities have appealed to the public not to spread rumors and to cooperate with the investigation process.

Police officials stated that legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible after the completion of the investigation. Security arrangements in parts of North 24 Parganas district have also been strengthened as a precautionary measure.

The investigation into the killing of Chandranath Rath and the subsequent bomb attack continues, with officials expected to release further details after reviewing available evidence and witness statements.
