Congress Member of Parliament Karti P Chidambaram has called on the Central government to convene a special session of Parliament following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent seven appeals directed at citizens across the country.
The Prime Minister’s appeals focused on encouraging self-reliance, reducing unnecessary expenditure and promoting responsible use of national resources during a period of global uncertainty. Among the key suggestions made by the Prime Minister were working from home wherever possible, reducing fuel consumption, avoiding unnecessary foreign travel and supporting locally manufactured products.
Reacting to these appeals, Karti Chidambaram stated that Parliament should be informed about the reasons behind such directives and the larger economic context in which they were issued.
